What does this mean?

Thank you for submitting your items for appraisal. These appear to be two chinese export porcelain plates, hand painted in Canton in the 1860s. Decorated with the popular butterfly motif. Such plates were produced in huge numbers and are still available in better condition in the trade. The plates in your possession have small defects at the rim. Collectors will tend to choose from only the plates in perfect condition. The estimate is based on similar offered or sold at auction.
