Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
San Juan de Oriente pottery by Amanda Gutierrez reflects the rich tradition of Nicaraguan ceramics, particularly from the town of San Juan de Oriente, known for its craftsmanship. Gutierrez incorporates indigenous techniques with modern artistry, producing finely detailed, hand-painted earthenware. Her pieces often feature vibrant colors, intricate geometric patterns, and cultural symbols inspired by pre-Columbian art. Through her work, Gutierrez preserves and evolves the centuries-old pottery techniques of the region, blending heritage with contemporary designs.
I can't find examples of her work selling at auction but retail prices on Etsy range from $25-75 so this would have a value of $40-60.
