What does this mean?

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a cast in mold green glaze stoneware pitcher by Nelson McCoy Sanitary Stoneware Co. (NMSSC). The jug shows the encircled shield mark with the style number 121. Nelson McCoy was founded in 1910 but started using trademarks on their products only after 1927. The jug or pitcher in your possession should be an early example of the transitional period around 1927. The estimate is based on similar jugs sold at auction.
