Jug approximately 8" tall
This belongs to my father. He purchased several pieces similar to this over the years and would like to know the value, if there is any.
Hello again Camilla,
I see we have more of your father's Pre Columbian collections. Thank you for all of your appraisal inquiries with Mearto. This item appears to be a Chimú culture pottery double vessel from the Northern portion of Peru. This item is usually referred to as a whistling vessel. The head feature is thought to be a guardian. The design on the vessel is seen on other examples, many dating to the 12th - 15th century.
Again, dating the item would require in-person examination. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of similar figures in similar dimensions. Please note that dealer or private prices may vary. Further, estimates are contingent on condition and authenticity.
I am asking for additional help from other specialist in the hopes to correctly identify your other items. So I am very sorry if there is any delay in appraisals. We just want to be able to confidential identify the items. Thank you.
