Carved bowl approximately 3" tall and 4" wide
Additional piece from my Dad's collection...
Dear Camilla,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry and my sincere apologies for the delay
The presented object appears to be a Pre-Columbian ceramic bowl with carved geometrical decor and a height of 3 inches and a width of 4 inches. The exact localization of this piece is difficult because of the simplicity of the shape and the decor. It reminds of Mayan incised bowls but differs in the system of the decor and the material. This ceramic is much rougher and burned with lower temperatures. It could be made by one of the neighboring tribes of the Mayan culture.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 40 to 80 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
