What does this mean?

Dear Eric,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The presented object appears to be a frog effigy ceremonial vessel with the measurements of approximately 4" high x 7" long x 3" wide. It was made out of ceramic and frog motifs were used by the Moche and Missipian cultures. The color and ceramic are a hint that this piece is more comparable to the Mississippian culture. The wave ornament is not used by comparable ceramic from this culture.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 250 to 500 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
Georg
