Print made by Walt Disney Company. Back story, my father in either 1956 or 1957 was traveling back from Ireland on business and met a producer from Disney who was casting for the movie Darbie O'Gill and the Little People. My father gave him my name the names of my six other siblings. They received a similar prints with different Disney characters. PS: I also have the following Disney Black Diamond VHSs: 101 Dalmatians, Beauty and the Beast, Sword and the Stone, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. Do you appraise these, if not can you tell where I should go to get these appraised.
The print is framed but the Dumbo artwork is 10 inches wide by 8 inches high.
Hi Paul,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Disney released the animated film Dumbo on October 23, 1941. It was the fourth animated feature produced by Disney, following Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Pinocchio (1940), and Fantasia (1940).
There are dozens of Disney prints on the market but what really distinguishes yours from most of the others is the presentation inscription to you that is signed by Walt Disney himself.
Other prints signed by Walt Disney have sold recently at auction between $1,000 and $1,500 and yours would be among that group should you decide to sell it.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Walt Disney print for Dumbo
1941

The lower left corner of the mat bears a graphite inscription "To Paul / With Best Wishes / Walt Disney."
Frame is 8 x 10 inches
CONDITION: Not examined out of the frame

Hi Paul,
It's not necessary to get the dimensions of the print, the frame size is sufficient. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns; otherwise, this appraisal is complete. Thank you again for using Mearto.
As to the VHS tapes, unfortunately, opened VHS tapes - even limited edition ones - have very little value, in most cases less than they would have cost when acquired new in the 1990s. There are several sellers on eBay that place astronomical prices on examples they are selling; these sellers usually hope to find deep-pocketed but naive buyers who aren't savvy about what things are really worth. Because eBay is not transparent and won't confirm if any of those sales took place for those amounts, they are additionally an unreliable resource in terms of valuations.
It's been my experience that realistically-priced ones typically sell for less than $10 each. UNOPENED ones do bring a bit more (maybe as much as $20 each) but it may not be worth the cost of you getting a Mearto appraisal for them.
Please let us know if we can be of any additional help with appraising items you have.
Cheers,
Delia
Answers to your questions:
1. It is a print, not a cell.
2. The inscription is written on the mat.
3. The print was framed by a local framing shop, I can find a local framing shop to remove it, it is not obvious to me how to remove the print. If this is necessary for your appraisal, I can a find a local shop and get the print removed, I don't want to damage the print.
Also, I have five Disney Black Diamond Collection VHS movies, can you appraise these?
