Really nice condition with an Arabic signature
Apparently the rug has been in storage for over 20 years hence the beautiful condition
Hi Jake,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a beautiful rug. I can read Arabic and Farsi and the calligraphy is illegible; if you have a translation I may be able to try to see if it's in another language (often times, calligraphic inscriptions on rugs made for export were often gibberish).
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Persian Qum silk rug
In the Bokkara style, mid 20th Century
Diagonal rows of paisleys on a red ground, within a blue border and cream selvedges. One end with a calligraphic inscription.
174 by 233 cm (68 1/2 inches by 91 3/4 inches)
CONDITION: stored and in beautiful condition
PROVENANCE: inherited
