Metal approx. 15 1/2" x 10" x 8"
I inherited this piece. My father was an art collector and appraiser. I do not know if he exhibited this particular piece.
Hello Farah,
Thank you again for your appraisal inquiry with MeArto. The item presented appears to be a bronze sculpture by New York based artist Saint Clair Cemin (Brazilian, born 1951) titled "Quote, Unquote," 1993. The work depicts a central abstract figure with two smaller figures at its sides. The work is signed, numbered 5 of an edition of 5, and includes the Empire foundry mark.
The last time this item was seen on the auction market was in December, 2007 at Christie's Amsterdam. Unfortunately, the sculpture passed at auction. Cemin's auctions were very strong in the years leading up to the 2008 recession but took a deep afterwards. His auction results seem to be on another upswing.
The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of Cemin bronze sculptures of comparable dimensions. Thank you and take care.
