What does this mean?

Hi John,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The movie Jaws (1975), directed by Steven Spielberg, is one of the most significant and influential films in cinema history. It was released nationwide in June 1975, accompanied by an unprecedented marketing campaign and wide release — a new approach at the time. Its massive success (it became the first film to gross over $100 million) showed Hollywood how powerful wide releases and television advertising could be. Jaws paved the way for later blockbusters like Star Wars (1977), E.T., Jurassic Park, and Indiana Jones.

The movie was a masterclass in suspense, with Spielberg turning production challenges into brilliance: The mechanical shark, nicknamed “Bruce,” frequently malfunctioned — forcing Spielberg to imply the shark’s presence rather than show it directly. This led to the film’s signature slow-build tension, using sound, camera angles, and John Williams’ iconic two-note theme to create terror. Movie-goers really didn't go back into the water after seeing it!

However, this isn’t an original theatrical poster for Jaws, rather, it's a mashup by Charles de Lauzirika, a filmmaker and graphic designer known for creating behind-the-scenes documentaries for films like Alien, Blade Runner, and Prometheus; occasionally posts fan posters and mashups online. The tagline, “Underwater no one can hear you scream,” is in fact a reference to Alien (1979), not Jaws. The original Alien tagline was “In space no one can hear you scream.” This mashup combines Jaws and Alien motifs for humorous or creative effect.

A similar de Lauzirika Jaws poster is currently listed online, on Ebay, for $7,600 but there is no evidence that this would bring anywhere close to that in a transparent brick-and-mortar auction, which is what Mearto bases its values on. Other de Lauzirika posters that have sold in poster auctions have sold for prices ranging from $300 to $800; I would expect this to bring toward the higher range.
s currently don't bring *quite* as much as the original posters do; I would expect this to sell for between $600-800.

Of course, if you have documentation that could increase its value, kindly share that at your earliest convenience.

Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
