White glaze over terra cotta Zaccagnini Raymor table lamp base. Signed from Italy.
My local thrift store.
This is a vintage, mid 20th century, Mid Century Modern style lamp with a glazed terracotta base with teak wood from Italy that was produced for Raymor, an importer, and designed by Società Ceramiche Zaccagnini. Ugo Zaccagnini (1868-1937) was the patriarch of the ceramic design family; the Raymor lamp here post dates when Ugo was living. Urbano Zaccagnini was the 2nd generation director until 1958. Zaccagnini spA also collaborated with a fair amount of new designers such as Mario Bandini, Ottorino Palloni, Maurizio Tempestini, Gino Pozzi and Leopold Anzengruber. This lamp has a Danish Modern influence, most especially with the use of the teak wood elements. It does have a curious shade, as shown in the image, which uses a vintage, earlier, milk glass up light shade which is likely a marriaged piece. The estimate is for the base only as this does not appear to be the original working lamp and it is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
