Two sided record cabinet with lion head and foot
In my family for years
This is a circa 1900 bow front phonograph record cabinet done in quarter-sawn oak. It is from the Arts & Crafts period from the late Victorian era. Generally, these high-styled cabinets were produced by Herzog for Edison phonographs and the player would sit atop the cabinet. Usually at auction these carry sale estimates of $800 - $1200; however bidders are fervent for these fine antique cabinets and they are currently selling at auction for considerably higher than the high estimate. The valuation here is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables.
