Hello Jason,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Rug from Iran's Keshan Province. These are also known as Keshan Carpets, your piece was probably made between 1960-1990 period. The Keshan pattern is very characteristic and usually only changes the colour palettes. This colour palette we observe on your piece is one of the most common used on Keshan pieces. Your piece's border are decorated on an ivory colour while the most common pattern includes dark-blue base for the borders.
Knot density of the piece can be considered average, therefore the motifs are rendered somewhat muddy. Since these pieces are decorated hevaily and are very detailed their knot density is easily noticable even from the front side. Lower knot density results in a poor rendering in motifs while the high knot counts increase the precision. Both the foundation and the pile of Keshan pieces are mode of wool. Mostly decorated with floral motifs, the piece is very symmetrical. Has a classical Keshan style central medallion on it's central decoration which adapted a dark-blue base and an ivory medallion. The piece has some ware probably due to exposion to light or use and some loss on fringes.
Entirely hand knotted.
Dimensions: 8 Feet by 10 Feet
Condition: In good condition with some signes of use and slight loss on fringes.
Provenance: Inherited
Heavily decorated by traditional Keshan Patterns.
