Believed to be from 19th century. Reversed painted on ox horn and placed on wooded box. Not sure of the maker.

Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Chinese or Korean Kwagak painted horn-veneered caddy or box
mid-late 19th Century
Of rectangular section veneered allover with panels of reverse-painted ox-horn, the hinged lid opening to a single-well interior lined with paper, the exterior panels depicting animals, dragon or birds. Unsigned.
5-3/4 inches high, 10-3/4 inches wide, 7-1/8 inches long
CONDITION: This box appears to be in good condition with some minor losses to the veneer.
PROVENANCE: Inherited

Sorry for delay in getting pictures to you. I was on vacation. I’ve now uploaded some photos of inside box, bottom of box and close up of some metal nails to hold box on bottom. There are some other examples of them if you need. Some are buried very far in and smaller. Maybe this can determine something about the box. Thank you.
