What does this mean?

Hello, thank you for submitting an item for appraisal. This is an American appliqued quilted cotton coverlet, probably from the mid-Atlantic states (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware). Stylistically, it could date to 1850-1875, it could also have been made later, though your family history would better be able to pinpoint a date range. It appears to be in good condition, with little apparent fading and only one visible area of staining. The floral-box pattern is somewhat unusual; the market tends to respond more favorably to quilts that do not have quite so much empty white ground. Let us know if you have additional questions, and good luck!
