Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
You have a lovely suite by Brisbane furniture maker, Ed Rosenstengel. He was a furniture maker between 1922-1957. The suite comprises a raised vitrine, a six-seater dining table and chairs, sideboard, and nesting table (although I don't see this in the photo. Is it next to the sideboard?)
These items are most desirable in Australia, particularly Queensland, as you might expect. I would suggest selling the items separately and not as a suite. I think you will realise a higher total amount if you sell this way.
There are not a lot of auction records readily available for Rosenstengel. Most items by the maker are sold by antique dealers, and are sold for significantly more than on the fair market. Unfortunately, people are not decorating their homes with these large, brown furniture suites, and the overall market for wood furniture is in decline and has been for the past 15+ years. It's just too easy for people to decorate their homes with mass manufactured, cheap furniture these days.
My estimate is for the entire suite. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Kind regards,
Corey
