What does this mean?

This is a vintage English Royal Doulton figural entitled A Yeoman of the Guard. Royal Doulton issued a number of different Yeoman theme figurines, this in particular is the HN688 version and it is the most sought after. The HN688 was designed for Doulton by Leslie Harradine and issued from 1924 - 1938. Book value is stated as $1500USD, however it is important to understand that 'book values' often do not reflect fair market value, which is the price at which an item sells for on average when offered to the market. The estimate here is based on actual recent past auction sales.
