The painting seems to be acrylic with gold flake or paint on the edges. Its painted on solid wood. The paint appears to be cracking but overall in good condition. There is writing on the back but can not make out what it says. Dimensions are roughly 18"x36"

Dear John – My name is Erin-Marie and I am a licensed appraiser and auctioneer with a graduate degree from Sotheby’s Institute, London. What a lovely painting you have submitted to Mearto. This is an oil and gold leaf on wood painting which is a 19th century copy of a circa 1390 tempera on wood panel painting by Ferrer Bassa of Barcelona. At auction, copies like this can sell between $1600USD and $2700USD, depending upon interest. Retail prices are frequently at least three times the auction 'hammer' price so I'd expect to see this piece with a price tag in the $5000USD - $7000USD range.
I hope this assists you but do let me know if you have any follow-up questions.
Sincerely: Erin-Marie
You clearly have great taste. I would encourage you to post any piece you have questions regarding, one piece per question. The information you provided for the after Pere Serra was perfect, so please continue in that fashion.
While you may request me with "For Erin-Marie" in the subject line, each of the experts on the Mearto platform is a professional and you can always expect the same level of consideration and research.
Congratulations on the find!
Erin-Marie
Yes, you actually pointed me in the right direction. Just discovered the original painting is by Pere Serra and is in the Museum of Art here in Barcelona. Had no idea. I do have plenty of other paintings and a few that are originals dating from the 16th century. Should I continue posting them as well?
