Salvador Dalí (1904–1989) was a Spanish painter, sculptor, and writer, and one of the most famous figures of Surrealism. Known for his dreamlike, hyper-detailed imagery, he explored the unconscious mind, influenced by Freud. His iconic work, The Persistence of Memory, with its melting clocks, became a symbol of modern art. Dalí was important for popularizing Surrealism globally, blending technical mastery with bizarre imagination, and cultivating a flamboyant public persona that helped make avant-garde art accessible to a wider audience.

Dalí created the “Peace Menorah” as part of his later career exploration of religious and symbolic themes, particularly in the 1960s–70s when he became increasingly interested in spirituality and mysticism.
