Japanese Vase, approx 20” high, 9” wife at its widest,
Inherited from my deceased mother who received it as a gift from my uncle who purchased it in Japan while serving in the military approximately 75+ years ago
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a 1920s or 1930s Satuma earthenware vase, decorated with trailing wisteria and women in front of a tempel, hand painted with additional gilding. Marked at the base below the Shimazu clan mark 扎山 (?) Yeongsan (?). This would be an average quality vase made for export. Similar vases are being offered and sold at auction.
The sentimental value it might represent to you can´t be estimated.
