Marble mounted sculpture of Diana ( ? ) with a bow. Perhaps made of bronze ? I think the piece was once part of a garniture for a larger piece - the sides and rear are not ' marbled ' - they were not meant to be seen, I suspect (??? ). Toal weight : 6 Kg. approx. Marble base : 35 x 12 x 4.8 cm. Overall height of the piece : 26.8 cm.
Bought at a flea market about twenty years ago in Zürich.
Dear Michael,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the huge delay with the appraisal
The presented object appears to be an Art Deco sculpture with the measurements of 26.8 cm height. The bronze or metal alloy sculpture was cold painted and depicts Diana. The base was made out of marble and onyx. The piece in not signed and was probably made in the first half of the 20th century around 1920/1930 in France or Belgium.
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in medium condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 150 to 300 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
