2 paintings, one is 14 x 11 inches and the other is 12 x 9.5 inches. They both depict a barn and are on board. “Winter Castella” is written on the back of the larger one, #26 is also written there.
Found in a box of albums acquired from my husbands family.
These are two vintage 20th century original paintings on board, without frames, of buildings as seen in a winter landscape, both of varying sizes (14" x 11" and 12" x 9.5") that are each signed by the artist Clement Metivier (1910 - 1996). Metivier was born in Canada and transplanted to California in 1946 where he remained in the Mount Shasta area until his passing in 1996. He was known for plein air painting, which means to paint a view live, on-the-spot. The estimate is for an individual painting, which can be multiplied by 2 for a total and is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
