What does this mean?

Hello Katherine,

I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,

Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Contemporary Pakistani Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1988 to 1990. The piece is designed with the motif palette of the so called "Shah Abbas Rugs" but aside from the use of this single palm leave motif, there is no connection with this piece and authentic Shah Abbas Rugs. This palm leaves were the symbol of the dynasty of the Persia at the time as well as it's ruler Shah Abbas who has encouraged artists and commisioned countless pieces of rugs. The piece doesnot have an evident central medallion, a very small difference in the duplicated floral pattern is acting as a central medallion in this piece The use of Persian "Herati" patterns are also very noticable in this piece. The pattern is like quadrilateral which has a floral motif on it's each corner. The piece was knotted with a very pale colour palette, likely to fit in a contemporary interior design. The piece was knotted wool on cotton and the knot density is average to high. Therefore the motifs were rendered in high precision. The useof palm leave motifs are also evident on borders. The piece's central area is knotted on a Beige base while the borders were decorated on a pale brown base. The piece is in good condition without any visible problems.

Entirely hand knotted.

Serial Number of #63302 16/18.
