What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The silver flask is certainly English and by the maker Colen Cheshire, who was active in Birmingham and Chester. I am unable to find the city mark - it would be an anchor for Birmingham or a shield with 3 wheatsheafs and/or 3 wheatsheafs and lions in the same shield.

The date letter appears to be a "C", but I cannot confidently correspond it to a date. It appears to be a Birmingham 1877-1878 date letter, but the corners are canted, which isn't typical for that date. It could be Chester 1886-1887, which does have the canted corners. It's very difficult to be certain, since the marks are so effaced. I am fairly positive about the maker. The double C, with a period only after the first C, is typical Colen Cheshire.

Again, the value is dependent on the weight. My estimate is without weight and assuming it to be around 15 troy ounces (16.5 ounces).

Kind regards,
Corey

This message is for Cory. If you enlarge the pictures you will see:

A CC on one broad side (left Center)

A lion? with a paw raised and a C on the other broad side

A 10 on the bottom

On the neck, there is a C on the right. The image on the left is almost indiscernible, but may be another lion. These are only visible only with a magnifier. I will try to get a better picture

When my husband bought the flask around 1970 he was told by the dealer that is was Georgian made in London 1795-1805. Could this be Charles Chesterman? He has 2 marks with a CC, one has a dot in between. Possibly Goerge Cowles or George Giles? Plz let us know. There is no anchor and the stamps don't seem to match the ones from Chester. There is a lion and possible a leapord's head. Plz advise! Thank you!

Your maker's mark looks much more like Colen Cheshire than Chesterman. The period is higher next to the first "C" in the established Chesterman marks than your mark. The date you were given is uninformed. There is a date letter, so there shouldn't be a date range so large. The date letter pinpoints to a 1 year span. See the Chesterman and Cheshire marks here:
