Well, it is a working Singer Sewing Machine and not sure what year it was made. We live in Australia. Just looking for an approximate valuation and maybe where we could sell it in Australia? Cheers Trudy
Hi Trudy-Ann,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
According to the serial number EJ916816 and this website (https://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial-numbers/singer-ej-series-serial-numbers.html), your machine was built in September 1954, making it vintage rather than antique (which must be 100 years or older).
So few people use sewing machines these days that the market is somewhat flooded by them. With considerably less demand than supply, prices remain modest with most models by Singer - the gold-standard in sewing machines - bringing less than $200.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage gilt stencil and ebonized electric Singer sewing machine
Serial number EJ916816, made in September, 1954.
With electric pedal
CONDITION: This sewing machine appears to be in generally good condition.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
AUD$100-150*
