Dear Jim,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload a better image of the lower left part of your work. Is the word "landed" printed or stamped? Any further information you have such as a receipt or certificate would be helpful to have.
Best wishes,
Karine
Dear Jim,
Thank you for being so patient.
One last question which could give us a clue whether your work is an original or a print: are the initials on the back of your work near the price A/E or A/P?
Thank you for letting us know, and I will give you an estimate.
Best wishes,
Karine
Hi, thanks so much. Im not sure I see initials on the back, but there is AE in front on the bottom. It's hard to see on the photos I sent but the pencil markings on the work seem clearly actual pencil and not printed on if that helps.
Dear Jim,
After researching your work here is what we can:
The item presented appears to be a mixed media abstract composition, possibly executed towards the end of the twentieth century. It is large, and there is a name written in pencil on the reverse. The condition looks to be good overall, and it is housed in a frame.
Unfortunately, like you, I had some trouble deciphering the artist's signature. I've tried many variations (such as Brewster, Brewister, Brewisfer etc.) without success I am afraid.
Therefore, the estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of similar mixed media works on paper, dating from the 1980s to 1990s. The current condition (based on photographs provided) has been taken into consideration when determining the estimate.
Best regards,
Karine
Thanks so much, Karine. I appreciate it. I might keep trying to see what I can find out, but I appreciate your help and hard work. Take good care, Jim
Thanks so much, Karine. I'm afraid I don't know too much about this, I got it secondhand in Baltimore and just liked so it's been hanging in my apartment, and people sometimes ask me about it, and I don't know what to say and figured I'd send it to you all in hopes of learning a little more. It seems the frame is older and that inscription, Brewster or Brewisfer, or Drewisfer, is somewhat indecipherable. It doesn't appear to me that Landed was printed on as the lettering seems a little raised, but honestly I have no idea. I tried to take a few more photos, thanks for taking a look. Jim
