Approx 7”x 7” Bronze (I think!)
It was bought by my landlady, who left it to me in her will. I believe she may have bought it in Paris but I’m not sure. She dallied in the art and antiques business for many years. She told me she’d bought it to sell on but fell in love with it so kept it. Her purchase would have been at least 70 years ago.
Dear Steven,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a small-sized figurine made out of patinated bronze with measurements of approx 7”x 7”. The bronze depicts a human balancing on a tilting chair. The surface was left in a raw status and the anatomical details are partly suggested. The artist tried to catch the movement of balancing and the anatomy with this figurine. This piece is not signed, monogrammed, or numbered. This bronze was made in the third quarter of the 20th century by an unknown artist. Sadly it is not possible to attribute this bronze with the argument of style or motif to a known artist.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 200 to 400 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
