Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be an oval reticulated porcelain bread basket manufactured by Carl Tielsch in Silesia, Germany in the 1890s. Carl Robert Tielsch founded his company in 1845 in Altwasser near Waldenburg in then Silesia, now part of Poland. Carl Tielsch was one of the leading porcelain manufacturers in the second half of the 19th centuries, mass producing long lasting hand painted inexpensive porcelain. The basket in your possession was made for export after 1890 as it bears the made in Germany stamp. The estimate is based on similar sold at auction. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the item.
Thank you Klaus. I think it’s beautiful and without it’s markings, could pass for a modern piece. This speaks highly of it’s quality. I am very pleased with not only it’s value but it’s origins as well. Thank you again. Best regards, Lisa.
