This clock is in very poor condition but we are interested in knowing what it is worth or if it is worth fixing. I do not know any specifics about it aside from that it was appraised in the 1980's at being worth over $2000.

Boulle refers to André-Charles Boulle (1642–1732), a renowned French cabinetmaker known for his intricate marquetry work. His signature technique, "Boulle marquetry," involved inlaying brass, tortoiseshell, and other materials into wood to create elaborate, ornamental designs. Boulle's furniture became synonymous with luxury and was highly sought after by European royalty during the Baroque period.
These clocks were made in relatively large numbers and are not considered very rare, with dozens coming to market at auction these days. However, with fewer collectors of this form and style, prices for even good examples in working condition rarely bringing more than $400-600 at auction. In poor condition, yours is worth $100-200.

An antique French gilt brass mounted Boulle table clock
late 19th Century
Surmounted by a cast brass putti, the case with Boulle brass overlay and red tortoiseshell with cast brass mounts to the front edge including a face, rocaille and scrolled flourishes, encircling a cast brass dial with white-enamel Roman numeral chapter rings, all on short cast brass feet.
