This piece is a Still Life Painting from 1946. It is still in it’s original frame and seems to be a take on Dutch Still Life artwork. I cannot identify the artist based one the monogram, but it seems to be either “GL” or “CHL”
This piece was given to me by a friend who acquired it from an estate sale.
Dear Jonathan,
Thank you for your contacting Mearto with your appraisal enquiry.
The item presented appears to be an oil painting from 1946. The work is monogrammed on the lower right by the artist. It is housed in an original gilt frame, and it looks in excellent condition.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find this artist's monogram. If you have any further information regarding the artist of this work, please let me know, and I will be happy to research further.
Therefore, the estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and similar still-life paintings without artist attribution, dating from the 1940s. The current condition (based on photographs provided) has been taken into consideration when determining the estimate.
Best regards,
Karine
