Dear Gary,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a votive figurine made out of bronze depicting a bird. Birds are since the bronze age a symbol of periodicity and probably a sign for death and the afterlife. This is probably connected with migratory birds. These motifs appear in the European Bronze especially the Hallstatt culture age and reach into the early Iron Age and La-Tene period. The patina and corrosion appear to be authentic but this piece was polished at three areas that devalue this piece for collectors.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 0 to 150 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
