Work on paper signed "Cl M" monogram of Claude Monet Size: 9"X 12". Paper has watermarks ! Please sea pictures. I've tried to trace the "watermarks" but but I can't find any info. The "B" and a "Crowned Head" could be England (?)
Deceased estate Palm Beach, FL. Purchase from previous owner who did not have any other information about the pastel.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. A lovely and high quality drawing indeed, but not by Monet. The handwriting in black ink on the back is most likely a date and time "6h" for six o´clock. Apparently an artist who noted exact time and date when scetching weather phenomena. The writing by another hand "Claude Monet (1840-1926) is deceiving and would be a sacriledge on a genuine work of art by Monet. It is a lovely early 19th century pastel by a british artist, but I can´t put a name to it. Because of the deceiving attribution to Monet I have to call it forgery, which is a pity.
I am not sure but you can check this book on paper watermarks.
The watermarks can be from an English papermaker.
What does it take so long for this painting?
?????
What's happening with this appraisal??
Are you in your way to appraise my painting? Or, you gave up?? Please let me know. Thank you. Claude
Helllllllooooo!!!
Once again, Mr. Klaus you should start selling groceries instead of appraising art. How can you judge a painting by looking at the writing on the back? Are you blind or you didn't see the signature on the front? Cl M. Monet initials?? Who cares who wrote on the back Claude Monet? It's relevant! So in your incompetent opinion, some kind of English artist from 1870's era bought watermarks paper and imitated Monet and "faked " his signature...
Luckily, I don't value your opinion at all an I considered my $20 I paid for it a loss. Please check the other appraisal I have from Mutual Art and take some notes... Thank you and go back to school...
LOOK AT THE LAST PICTURE AND LEARN HOW TO RESEARCH AN MAKE AN APPRAISAL! AND THIS ONE WAS FREEEEE!
I had enough of Mearto dilettantes.
Unfortunately, I don't know. The writing can be of an Auction House from the late 19th Century. Ink is faded. See the other writing in the photo. The secret is the watermarks in the paper!! Find a specialist. I can't. Thanks
