Size of a cereal bowl about 6” wide and 2” high. My dad had it looked at they said it was from the Sung Dynasty. I have photos of it and and article from a news paper that interviewed my dad about 40 years ago.
It was my parents and before my mom past away she gave it to me. They bought it at a yard sell for $.25.
Dear Dennis,
Indeed your bowl is made in Song Dynasty ( 960–1279 ) in China. It is a quite plain bowl. The chest itself is made in 19th century so it appears to protect the bowl or they just found a good fitting chest with the bowl. This bowl was not used to show of of has imperial aspirations but collectors would love to buy it. I believe if your bowl came to auction, and I take the small damage into consideration, it can make a price around the estimate.
