Hi Rachel,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry, and for confirming you've been unable to find any tags or labels on this coat.
The labels I've found on similar coats are all retailers labels (EF Meyers Furs, Suzanne's Parisian Furs, Canadian Fur Company, Otto Heinz) so it's not certain if these were imported in bulk by retailers who put their labels on them.
Comparable coats with labels are currently selling for between $100-300 at auction, with unattributed coats bringing less, usually between $50-150.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage curled Persian lamb's wool black short swing coat
unattributed maker, possibly New York City, circa 1950s
With shawl collar and large cuffs, hook and loop closures, lined with a black satin with white sunburst decoration. No tags or labels.
Undetermined, possibly 14
CONDITION: This coat appears to be in generally good condition; value assumes no tears, stains, odors, repairs or losses.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$50-150*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.

Thanks very much, Rachel, you're all set.
Hi. I’ve looked everywhere for a tag. I checked the insides of the pocket, rolled down the sleeves, looked between the liner and fur in all sections and can’t find any sort of tag. I was kind of hoping the liner might be distinctive. The original owner lived in NYC, so there’s a strong possibility it was purchased there. They also were from the Alsace region in France and traveled back and forth many times. They could have purchased the jacket in France. I think NYC is more likely though.
