I have been told that this sword is given to high ranking members of the Masons, and that this particular one has imagery associated with the Knight’s Templar. The blade appears to be polished steel while the hilt and sheath May be copper given the color of the metal as well as the greenish oxidation in some of the books and crannies in the hilt. Looking closely it is obvious that the sword was entirely forged by hand. Small inconsistencies in the shape of the stars all across the cross guard seem to indicate hand forging, as well as the etching and engraving all along the sheath and blood groove. I have been told that the grip is made of human femur bone and this does appear to be the case. There is a name engraved of Chas H Allen on the blade. Upon some internet searching, I found a Wikipedia article about Charles H Allen, a ranking politician and founder of Domino sugar. Was he the owner of the sword? I have no idea, but politicians and wealthy people seem to often be Masons. The sword in it’s sheath is 36 3/4” long and the blade is 27 1/2” long.
