Turner Wall Accessory S158 label. 40" tall and 30" wide. On cardboard. Bought in vintage store in San Diego. Original frame damaged irreparably but no damage to the poster board image of The Doors. Label numbering appears on reverse of the poster. Turner went out of business in 1975. So the piece is at least 45 years old probably older. My search to find other examples has been fruitless so it appears rare.
Obtained from vintage store in San Diego, CA.
Hello Peter,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. I apologize for the delay in your appraisal and thank you for your patience. The item presented appears to be a color lithograph depicting four male faces in an impressionistic style. The figures do not seem to match portraits of The Doors. The signature appears to read "Mark Wayne Sandson" or possible "Saulman" or other iteration. I searched several spellings and did not find a listed artist with a matching signature. However, the print has been seen on the auction market, attributed to an unknown artist called Mark Sanderson. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of this work and other comparable lithographs depicting figural portraits, dating to the 1970s. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care. Happ[y New Year.
