The painting has a sign : Vasse N but I’m not sure. What I heard about the painter was a student of famous painter J.M.W. Turner
It wasn’t exhibited. I got it from my neighbor.
Dear Natalia,
Thank you for the additional images and your patience. My sincere apologies for the delay.
The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil paint on canvas with the measurements of 23,5 x 35 inches. The painting depicts a sea battle between Dutch battleships and an unidentified enemy with red and yellow flags. This could be Spanish ships and this a scene from the Dutch War of Independence. This painting is signed with the name "Vasse" or "Vassell". Sadly no further information regarding the biography of this artist is mentioned in reference books or similar databases. This painting was made in the second half of the 20th century.
Works by this artist were recently not offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 200 to 600 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
