This is an original vintage, early 20th century, about 1930's, oil painting by American artist, Karl Anderson (1874 - 1956) entitled The Serenade. This is an allegory of love and depicts a pierrot clown seated with a guitar serenading a woman in a red dress while outdoors. Anderson was known primarily for illustration work and was active during the Golden Age of Illustration. If this was published as a cover or interior illustration in a magazine or book, there will be publisher notations on the backside of the painting. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
