These bookends are surprisingly heavy because they are made of strikingly thick solid bronze. These bookends both stand 5 5/8 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide. Also, they have a 2 inch depth when measured front to back. One of these ends seems to have acquired significantly more patina than the other over the years. They have never been cleaned besides the occasional feather dusting. The patina is clearly superficial however, if desired gone one could clean it off with basic supplies. I was told that this particular pair had been holding vigil in a man’s study since they were received as a gift in the early 1960’s. They sat securing a set of rare volumes on a shelf that was only accessible via a sliding ladder that was build into the shelves.
