Hello, this item is a hand-knotted Persian rug, most consistent with a Sarouk or closely related Sarouk-Mahal production from western Iran, likely dating to approximately 1910β1935. The approximately 6 ft 7 in by 4 ft 2.5 in format, deep navy field, coral-pink borders, finely drawn floral sprays, palmettes and central floral medallion are characteristic of early 20th-century Persian workshop weaving. The photographs of the reverse show a dense, regular hand-knotted construction rather than a machine-made rug, and the restrained naturalistic palette and drawing support an older date. I would describe it as wool pile, probably on a cotton foundation, pending physical examination.
The rug appears to retain strong color and substantial pile, which is particularly favorable given its age and the fact that it has apparently spent many years displayed on a wall rather than underfoot. There is visible age-related wear at the ends, including shortened or lost fringe, some edge wear and minor irregularities, but the field and major decorative elements remain attractive and readable. The lack of documented provenance limits any premium based on ownership history, although further information concerning when and where it was acquired could be useful. Comparable early 20th-century Sarouk-type rugs of this size and condition generally trade in the upper hundreds to low thousands at auction, with dealer replacement prices appreciably higher.
