Gold with a diamond on the back
My great grandma
This is an antique, late 19th to early 20th century gold metal pocketwatch from Tiffany & Co that is done in a repousse scrolling foliage design case with mounted diamond. The gold content is not shown, nor is the carat weight of the diamond known and there is not an image of the works which would reveal additional information about the watch. It is recommended to contact Tiffany & Co to pursue more information on this. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
I believe it's 1 caret and in excellent condition, I am thinking it's also OEC and 18kt yellow gold. I also think it was designed by agassiz for Tiffany's.
I can't open the back, I have tried and I don't want to mess anything up.
Opening the backside to show the works will reveal the most pertinent information. The back is intended to open and done carefully, will not harm the piece.
What is the carat size and quality of the diamond and the gold karat number? Also, please add a clear, in-focus image of the clockworks as seen when the back is opened.
