I believe it was made at a company in New York City. Maybe in the late 1960’s or early 1970’s. The name of the company I have is… Be Line Lighting, Inc. (Underwriters Labortories) Electric Fixture: Type I.C. / Issue number # D-34, 960 / I am 59 years old and as far back as I could remember it was hanging in my mother house. It still to this day in absolutely almost new looking condition. I don’t see any cracks. I don’t know much about this my mother passed away in 2022. My brother inherited her house. I was given this lamp and told to sell it on eBay for maybe $100.00. I just truly believe it may be worth a little more than that. I’ve been reading up a little and it looks like maybe a Vintage Tiffany Lamp stained glass with Flowers and Butterflies.
The bottom of the lamp is 80in Round / 17in Long
Hi Desiree,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I'm guessing that the socket is what is marked "Be Line Lighting," which was a subsidiary or retailer of Underwriters Labs parts (which supplied parts to many of the early and mid-20th Century lamp makers in the US.
This is almost certainly inspired by the stained glass and leaded shades and lamps created by Louis Comfort Tiffany around 1900; all of his lamps and shades (and lamp bases) will have small metal labels that say "Tiffany Studios" or "Tiffany NY" or "LC Tiffany".
What I believe you have instead is a Tiffany Style (inspired by but not made by) shade, made by slag glass, which was a less costly and more easily manufactured (and therefore more affordable) shade by any of several makers who were all working to supply the demand generated by people who wanted lamps similar to what LC Tiffany/Tiffany Studios made but who couldn't afford originals.
Most Tiffany style shades of this size and pattern typically sell at auction for around $100, so you could safely list this on eBay for between $150 and $200 and come down a bit in price if you don't get a buyer at those prices.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Tiffany style slag glass hanging chandelier shade
unattributed American maker, mid 20th Century
17 inches diameter
CONDITION: This shade appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$150-200*
