Hi Naomi,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Tim Harding is an American textile artist and wearable-art designer known for his innovative work with fabrics rather than conventional fashion design. Born in 1950, he studied painting and later shifted to textiles, developing a signature technique of free reverse appliqué that layers, cuts, and reveals fabric in painterly, sculptural ways. His work blurs art and fashion, appearing as both wearable art garments and large textile wall pieces that explore light, color, and structure. Harding’s pieces are held in major museums, including the Smithsonian Renwick Gallery and Cooper-Hewitt, and he has maintained a studio in Minnesota for decades.
While he's not tied to a major commercial fashion retailer, his pieces can bring comparatively high prices in galleries but he's so new that he has made little impact on the auction market - which Mearto tries to base our values on.
Comparable items have retailed for as much as $1500, which would translate to a $700-800 fair market value.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.
