wooden figurine of an African pregant mother. I do not know the authenticity of the piece as it could vvery well be from HomeGoods, etc. It weight maybe 4/5 lbs and stands at 22 1/4 inches.
its a piece that belongs to my roommate. Additional infomration is unknown. I really want to know if its worth having the piece restored since it is broken at the legs or just paying the owner what it costs.
Dear Anthony,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the apprisal.
The presented object appears to be a wooden statue with measurements of 22 1/4 inches. The statue was made out of tropical wood and depicts and standing pregnant woman holding her belly. Such pieces are made as souvenirs for tourists in the second half of the 20th century.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 20 to 50 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Anthony,
You are very welcome. Sadly I don't know any vendors who sell the same figurine. A restoration is this price range is widely overpaid.
With kind regards,
Georg
Hello Georg,
Thank you for providing this appraisal. Do you know of any vendors who are selling replicas of this item? I want to have it fixed but one restoration company indicated that it will cost me between $300-$600 to fix which is not something I can do since it is many times more the costs of what the item costs.
Thank you for your assistance.
