Dear Lucy,
Thank you for submitting images of this painting by Asian-American artist Tony Wong (1948 - 2010) to Mearto. His work is divided into two styles; there is this style which combines Impressionism with Chinese imagery and then there is another body of work with is more expressionistic in nature and with less realism. While the Expressionistic pieces are currently bringing higher prices at auction, a piece very similar to yours in style sold at at auction March of 2018 for 650 pounds... on the other end of the spectrum some similar examples have sold in the range of 100 pounds but the most recent trend seems to be on the upward swing.
If you have any follow-up questions, I am at your service.
Most Sincerely,
Erin-Marie
Dear Lucy,
While his works have been going up in value (particularly his Expressionistic works) the more traditional themes are still a bit of a volatile market (there has been an example of an 18" x 24" Tony Wong canvas which sold at auction for 22 pounds).
Knowing this and knowing the size of your piece, your best option might be to sell this piece privately via a site like EBay or Rubylane as these options will allow you to control all aspects of the sale including: setting the retail price where you are comfortable and coordinating shipping details with the winning bidder.
Alternatively, you can contact auction houses which are local to you which will eliminate the cost of shipping this piece to the vendor you choose.
I hope this gives you a couple of viable ideas but of course let me know if you have additional questions.
Sincerely,
Erin-Marie
Thank you I will give it some thought . I’m not experienced with posting and wouldn’t want it to be damaged on the way .Also it’s very big to post
Well I’ve been looking up his work and had my heart set on a lot more money but I’m happy with your valuation and happy to sell .Im just not sure how the posting works as it’s so large ?
