This painting was given to me by mother from when her family lived in Indonesia in the late 50s. The closest I can get on identifying the artist is Popo Iskandar. The signature is still somewhat visible on the painting but it is very faded. My mother said she thinks this was painted in the 40s. The subject was an indonesian woman from their area.
My mother got it from her mother and father who purchased it in Indonesia in the late 1950s
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a mid 20th century painting of a balinese beauty, painted by the balinese artist HASIM who was active in the 1940s and 1950s, painting mostly similar motifs, possibly on the basis of photographs. The estimate is based on similar paintings sold at auction. The scratch and the minor losses of colour pigments can be touched up by a professional restorer.
