Hello Connor,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Indian or Pakistani Contemporary Oriental Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1990-2000. These were commercially produced by the local ateliers in Pakistan or India for export purposes. The decoration of the piece is entirely floral, the piece does not reflect any type of classical or traditional oriental rug patterns but it is rather an eclectic piece with contemporary interpretations. The piece's central area was decorated with duplicated patterns, one acting as a central medallion. Most of the floral motifs are constructed with straight lines geometrically, hence the piece was likely knotted with the symmetrical knots. The piece uses an earth tones colured palette, to fit in a contemporary interior. The piece's knot density is average, therefore the motifs are rendered somewhat clearly. The piece is knotted wool on cotton. The piece is in good condition without visible problems.
Entirely hand knotted.
