81in x 52in pure silk, Kashmir hand knotted. Has had some repair work done, needs some stitching along the right border, fringe is almost gone. My mother acquired this rug in 1930 in India. It has never been on the floor, at least not in the past 60 years. It has been hanging on the wall all those years.

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The item appraised is a Kashmir silk hand-knotted rug, crafted circa 1930. The rug has the "Tree of Life" motif occupying the center on a cream ground and contained within crimson borders. The rug is not quite antique, as it isn't over 100 years old. The really valuable Kashmir rugs are 19th century, but this is a fine example nonetheless and should do well at auction. The rug market has been in decline for many years. People are decorating their homes differently than 20+ years ago, with the advent of flat pack furniture and cheap home decor stores. The estimate provided is for a well-advertised auction with international online bidding. Retail prices vary and are significantly higher than auction.
Kind regards,
Corey
Unfortunately, the rug is below our minimum consignment value. I would suggest contacting auction houses or rug dealers in your area.
Where do I go from here? Can you help me sell this rug?
