Seal Both prints carry a red rectangular seal reading 凧奴画 — three characters, read as Takoyakko-ga, "picture by Takoyakko." The characters are legible and confirmed. The identity of the person or workshop behind this seal has not been established. Brush inscriptions Print A Print B Inscription 二十九段 二十七段 Literal reading twenty-nine dan twenty-seven dan 段 (dan) denotes a step, stage, rank or section — in theatrical usage, an act. It is not an edition notation. No numeral 百 (100) appears on either work, and neither inscription carries a fraction, a slash, or any "of" construction. The significance of dan in this particular series has not been established and requires a specialist reader. The brush inscription is partially obscured by the mat in the current framing. The photographs of 29 August 2026, taken while Print A was unframed, record it in full and are the definitive record of its content. Substrate Thick, fibrous, textured paper with irregular deckled edges. Consistent with hand-made washi. Whether the sheet is momigami — kneaded paper — has not been established. Pigment and technique Colour sits in flat fields with soft, slightly irregular boundaries and visible absorption into the paper fibre. Black linework shows dry-brush granularity. Technique is not established. Woodblock, stencil (kappa-ban) and serigraphy have each been proposed by different sources. These are distinct processes and we have not determined which was used.
