Hi! I bought this item at an estate sale and am wondering if it’s worth anything. I believe is it a piece by Ugo Zaccagnini (it has a Z signature and says Italy on the bottom). It’s a turquoise color with gold details. In pretty good shape!

Hi Cassie,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a bit of an unusual mark for Ugo Zaccagnini, whose mark was usually not impressed, and usually has a more calligraphic look (this is pretty block-like except for the curl at the tail of the Z. However, I've not found another potter that had a similar Z mark.
Given the questions raised by the mark, this would be unlikely to bring high values at auction; a small unmarked piece of comparable style and decoration would be unlikely to exceed $150 at auction.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Hollywood Regency turquoise and gilt glazed covered dish
possibly by Ugo Zaccagnini, mid 20th Century
Of circular section with domed cover with banded gilt top and sides, the bottom impressed with a large Z flanked by P and R, and impressed ITALY.
6 1/2 inches wide by 5 1/2 inches tall
CONDITION: This appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: Acquired in an estate sale
$100-150*
